Pinterest: the Hobbyist’s New Best Friend

TMC recently reported on the new “virtual corkboard”, Pinterest: “Named by Time magazine as one of the five best social media sites of 2011, saddling up to major sites like Google (News  - Alert)+ and Klout, Pinterest’s mission is loud and clear, and with the innate ability as humans to bond over similar hobbies, we totally get it. “Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.”

Pinterest.com is being touted as the go-to site for organizing and sharing all the cool stuff you find on the web. Think of it as  Good Reads for  hobbyists. The collector, inventor, artist, crafter can  browse among the collections of like minded peers for the best of the best, and the “pin” favorite ideas to their own boards for later use or reference.

The homepage feels like this wonderful human scrap book of interests and ideas.  Check it out at Pinterest.com
