We Make, Therefore We Are!

Enjoy this fun look at Learning is for Everyone’s Makerspace Project Red Bull Creation 2012 entry! Team members hailed from LI4E’s FTC Team Duct Tape , and put their collective creativity to the test to develop the massive Rube Goldberg-like device in just three days!

Here’s the team’s description of their creation:

This over-engineered beauty is the Red Bull Wake-Up-Call alarm clock. Since anything worth doing is worth over-doing, this Bullduino-driven morning persuader is configured out a variety of repurposed items, including:

a 60 year old Seth Thomas travel clock
a Yamaha stage piano with speaker and woofer
an NXT brick
a couple of LEGO motors
a steel trap triggered by a falling anvil
and lots of duct tape!

They Make, therefore they Are – awesome!

Makerspace Opens in Westport Library in CT

On June 25, 2012 a Maker Space – a community space to “create, tinker, play anad collaborate” – will begin to operate in the Westport Library in CT, joining the growing number of libraries reimagining themselves as makerspaces. From June 25th to August 23rd Joseph Schott will be our first Maker-in-Residence. Patrons can participate in assisting with the creation of two model airplanes that will ultimately be suspended in the Great Hall of the Library. How about it Tampa Bay? My Cool Inventions Broadcasting from Tampa Bay

Think you have the next hundred million dollar product idea? My Cool Inventions radio show invites you to submit your product idea. Run by Akos Jankura ‘The Solutioinist’ and John Cremeans ‘The Doctor of Shopology” who offer to guide inventors in their product development, the program offers listeners an opportunity to vote on their favorite ideas.

Recently, the show maxed out the voter capacity during its premier boradcast when when the inventors of the Activator (home security) Knuckle Racquet (sports/exercise) and Credit Clean Extreme (DIY Credit Rating) pitched their ideas live and created “a text to vote frenzy. The text to vote platform for the one-hour show reached capacity with thousands of votes coming in from Tampa Bay and around the country.”
